Re-entry Notes

1. High-speed internet is so awesome I can't even talk about it.
2. It's not shorts and flipflop weather every day in New England. I have to check temperatures and dress appropriately. Long sleeves? Socks?
3. Is it important for me to know who people like Snooki and the Kardishians are? They seem to be everywhere yet I can't figure what they do exactly.
4. I can only spend a maximum of twenty minutes in a large store, like Wal-Mart or even Stop & Shop before I get a headache. Too much stuff! Too many choices. I need toothpaste. There are literally a hundred different options.
5. Speaking of large stores, I'm also overwhelmed by large parking lots. And how they are mostly empty these days.
6. A good hotel is also so awesome I can't even talk about it.

Sounds like you are experiencing reverse culture shock. Take it slow...

Thanks for the chuckle, Stephanie. I have a similar culture-shock reaction to my own country whenever I return after being away for a long time. But I don't need to travel at all to relate to #4: I always get a headache standing in a store aisle. Definitely too many choices. These choices do not represent freedom and democracy to me, but a new brand of tyranny. But which brand of tyranny shall I choose? Hmmm, which one costs less and has less high fructose corn syrup?

Welcome to New England!! In answer, you do not need to know anything about Snooki or Kardishians. And, um, they don't DO anything, so I think you've got all you need to know on that topic. However, Deadliest Catch (A&E) is a requirement. No advise whatsoever on Walmart. It's a zoo, and as such should be treated as a tourist attraction.
Good luck!!
